This year’s summer collection was inspired by shibori, the age-old Japanese technique that consists of twisting and knotting fabric before dying it. Three colorways compose the summery wardrobe: a gradation of deep blues, reminiscent of the traditional indigo used in shibori, beachy pastels recalling pink sands and blue skies, and a deep pink and red variations inspired by traditional beetroot dyes.

Wardrobe Essentials Everyone Should Own

Although most of us have traded our jeans and dresses for sweatpants and slippers for the time being, solid wardrobe essentials are forever. Let’s face it—none of us know how long this quarantine will last, but a closet with a reliable foundation of clothes will make it easier for you to maintain your new work-from home-routine (not to mention, help you get back up to speed once the coronavirus has passed). That’s why the concept of a wardrobe staple is so enduring: A closet built on a streamlined selection of items makes day-to-day dressing infinitely easier. (There’s little guesswork required.)

If you don’t know where to begin when it comes to building up the “essentials” section of your closet, the pieces below should serve as an excellent primer. Plain white tees, LBDs, and ballet flats will always have a place in our wardrobe, but now more than ever, we’re looking to a new kind of timeless classic—and the 10 styles in the gallery ahead are those you can mix and match for years to come. Whether your newest home project is cleaning out your closet and starting from scratch, or you just want something other than pajamas to wear right now, ahead are the wardrobe essentials everyone should own.

The Easy Jeans

We may be living in sweatpants these days, but denim will never go out of style. The new classic is the easy jean—a slouchy, high-waisted straight leg that looks equally chic with a pair of pumps or dad sneakers

The Versatile Layer

Everyone owns a T-shirt they love by now—but nothing beats the cool factor of a tank top. In addition to being a solid base layer, today’s tank tops have asymmetrical necklines and ultrathin straps that are meant to be shown off come sunnier days ahead (literally and figuratively). Whether you style it with a pair of high-waist jeans or a pair of baggy sweatpants, or wear it under a slip dress, no closet is complete without.

The Statement Blazer

A great blazer is a true workhorse in any wardrobe. Need an extra something to pull together an office look? Turn to a blazer. A great outerwear substitute when it’s not quite cold enough for a heavy coat? Again, a blazer. The can’t-go-wrong jacket to throw on over your cocktail dress for Zoom happy hour? You know the answer.

These are some of the best solutions for the upcoming autumn season to refresh your style. Is it time to upgrade the wardrobe?

The High Fashion Coloring Book Ready to Brighten Up Your Lockdown

Prada

While the lively back-and-forth between Colbi Mugrabi, founder of multidisciplinary media brand Minnie Muse, and artist and designer Sarah Coleman might make it seem as if they have been lifelong friends, it turns out the backstory to their new collaborative coloring book is a little more serendipitous. “I actually bought one of Colby’s sweatshirts from the Gagosian bookstore a while back and posted it on my Instagram story; then we started messaging,” says Coleman. “I think we recognized we have a shared aesthetic, in that we both like to bring humor into everything that we do.” On this, Mugrabi agrees: “It’s kind of like the ultimate quarantine friendship—we had actually never even met in person until a few weeks ago!”

All the same, their creative synergy was obvious from the get-go. “Back in March, we started talking about the projects we’ve been spending our time on during quarantine, and we came up with the idea of the coloring book just as a way for ourselves and for others to get creative,” says Mugrabi. “We really bonded over our love for Prada, and that was the first page we did. At the beginning, this was more of a fun project for us than anything. We asked ourselves, if we could be quarantined in a Prada room, what would it look like?

”The project quickly expanded into a fully-fledged coloring book titled Color-me, now available for free as a digital download, featuring eight interior vignettes inspired by a carefully curated selection of their favorite brands. Ranging from the offbeat, craft-inflected vision of Jonathan Anderson’s Loewe, here packed to the rafters with a number of the label’s most memorable artist collaborations, to an ode to Fenty that features Rihanna herself riding on the back of the motocross bike, the book vividly re-creates the feeling of stepping into the minds of some of their most admired designers.

Miu Miu Is Prada’s Little Sister No More

Miuccia Prada’s Katie Grand-designed alter ego is all grown up and ready to rumble.

Miu Miu F/W 2019 advertising campaign

While Prada is busy reviving its fortunes with a creative symbiosis of past and future, tapping into its design roots, wrapping the hybrid results in a lively digital hubbub, kid sister Miu Miu has managed to capitalise on the momentum with a multi-faceted ad campaign for Autumn/Winter. It’s easy to imagine its splintery fusion of fashion, music and art proving particularly engaging for Miuccia herself, seeing how often Miu Miu has functioned as her own wayward fashion alter ego.

You haven’t worn real shoes if you haven’t heard of Baldinini

Baldinini - Spring/Summer 2006 Ready-to-Wear - milan - Fashion ...

A long time ago, 1910 to be precise a brand for shoes emerged as one of the biggest fashion conglomerates today. Critics have labeled it as the brand that makes the most comfortable shoes. Is this the truth? Well, could be. As far as I’m concerned they are a really comfortable experience.

Shoes however aren’t the only thing that they make. In fact they are also known for their stylish handbags which are one of the best if I might add. The brand is known worldwide as a stamp for quality. It is sometimes overlooked by young people which is a grave mistake if you ask me. Their products are great. What about you? Do you agree with the critics about the brand?

Vespa+Dior=Cool Summer

Dior & Vespa luxury scooter, fashion and Style Rioter

Lockdown created special emotions, fresh summer dreams and expectations. One of the most exciting news is the surprising and amazing collaboration of the season: Dior and Vespa have designed a pure luxury scooter. And it sure looks good in the summer.

Vespa said: “Out of this passionate dialogue, the 946 Christian Dior scooter comes to life, its monohull architecture and subtle graphic lines paying tribute to the heritage of the two Italian houses.”

As a symbol of refinement, Vespa says, ”the two-wheeler shows their shared commitment to the excellence of savoir-faire and virtuoso art of detail.

A contemporary version of the iconic Vespa 946 – presented in 2012 in Milan and claiming to be recognised for its elegant and streamlined curves and technological innovation – the new model was designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director of Dior women’s collections.

Fashion & Style Rioter

Formally known as the Vespa 946 Christian Dior, the scooter boasts a saddle adorned with the signature Dior Oblique pattern complemented by the scooter’s patent beige finish and retro bronze-gold detailing. A line of accessories will accompany the release, including a matching helmet and a top case that can be affixed to the luggage rack.

Discussing Dior’s collaborative project with Vespa, Chiuri shared: “For me, Vespa is linked to my city, Rome.” I have so many happy memories starring a Vespa. It’s how my husband and I used to get around Rome and go to the seaside in Fregene. It’s a symbol of Italian-ness that is intricately linked to my personal history, and it’s now part of my professional life at Dior.”

Ray Ban ad from 1988. Timeless! | Funny commercial ads, Retro ads ...

Before 1937 people believed that sunglasses were something that only the workers could wear. They were oldschool and there simply wasn’t a demand for them by the general public. In 1937 something revolutionary happened. Ray Ban was born and it became an instant classic, it was everything that people would want at the time. The brand was new, cool and practical, what’s not to love about it? It was brilliant.

Versace

When you hear Versace what comes to your mind? Is it an outlandish expensive brand that you don’t quite understand or do you picture the logo of a brand that screams style and Italian fashion? Either way if you are interested in fashion and even if you aren’t you have surely heard of it. The designs of the brand show the character that it has built trough the years. In case you don’t know what I’m talking about well ladies and gentlemen let me present you the story of Versace:

After opening his Milan boutique in 1978, Versace quickly became a sensation on the international fashion scene. His designs employed vivid colors, bold prints, and sexy cuts, which were a refreshing contrast to the prevailing taste for muted colors and simplicity. His aesthetic “combined luxurious classicism with overt sexuality,” attracted much criticism in addition to praise. He is quoted as saying, “I don’t believe in good taste,” which was reflected in his “brazen defiance of the rules of fashion.” A saying referencing Versace’s rivalry with Giorgio Armani was: “Armani dresses the wife, Versace dresses the mistress.”

From 1978, Versace built the company with the support of his family, employing his sister Donatella as Vice President and his brother Santo as President of the company. Donatella’s purview extended to creative oversight, where she acted as a key consultant to Versace. Gianni would also come to employ Donatella’s husband, Paul Beck, as menswear director.

Among Versace’s most famous innovations was his 1982 invention of a type of super-light chainmail called ‘Oroton’, which became a signature material in his outfits. His suits were inspired more by his experience in female tailoring, departing from masculine Savile Row models by crafting suits that accentuated the male form and “insisted on men as sex objects.”

Versace was very proud of his southern Italian heritage and infused his designs with motifs inspired by historical fashion and art movements, especially Graeco-Roman art. This is evident in the company’s logo, the Medusa Head, and recurring motifs like the Greek key. He also allowed his love for contemporary art to inspire his work, creating graphic prints based on the art of Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol.

In 1982, Versace expanded the business into jewelry and housewares, designing luxury furnishings, china, and textiles for the home. He was unusual in retaining complete creative control over all aspects of his company. 1989, the firm expanded into haute couture with the launch of Atelier Versace. Versace became known for employing celebrities in his marketing campaigns and seating them in the front rows of his fashion shows, the first to do so. He is also credited with inventing the supermodel vogue of the 1990s, by discovering and featuring major supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Christi Turnington, and Linda Evangekista, all of whom he featured both on the runway and in his ad campaigns.

At the time of his death, Versace’s empire was valued at $807 million and included 130 boutiques across the world.

Where did the exchange in Armani come from?

You as fashion experts have probably seen that there are several Armanis. Why is that? Well let me tell you. Each Armani stands for the different class that the brand is in. For example Armani Jeans is a lower class subbrand whilst Giorgio Armani is the highest subbrand that competes with Louis Vuitton, Gucci and other highfashion brands. Armani Exchange however is a different story. It is the only branch of the Armani family that wasn’t created in Italy. This one is American made, in fact it was created for the american youth and at first it was though that the brand will only exist in the USA. Thankfully this didn’t happen and now the whole world can enjoy the brand’s existence.

Armani Exchange is Armani’s most successful brand since it has sold triple the worth of other Armani products in 2019.

What about you? Do you feel like AX is something that could match your style?

The clock that became a stamp of quality

Fashion and style rioter

Anything made in Switzerland these days is a stamp of quality. Well the IWC Schaffhausen is no exception, in fact the brand has been one of the greatest producers of timepieces since it’s creation, especially when talking about aviator clocks. Fashion and style rioter

IWC- International Watch Company established in 1868 in the city of Schaffhausen has been a success from the beginning. It was the Rolex of today. The watch with which the rich would spend their hard earned money and wear on special occasions. The fact that is not as popular today mustn’t fool you. A single piece is extremely expensive. The brand even works closely with Daimler and that is why the analogue watch on the dashboard of the expensive models of Mercedes is a IWC.Fashion and style rioter

If you ever find the will and the funds of course to buy a premium watch that is not mainstream but also pretty recognizable I assure you that IWC is a great brand that you definitely should pay attention to.Fashion and style rioter
